Living in Uniten

Huzzah! It has been a hectic period of time for our authors these past few weeks, and we finally got back to writing again. In this entry, we're entering the accommodations of UNITEN. A sneak peek of where the bright hopefuls of UNITEN are staying to rest their diligent minds. This university provides an on-campus apartments for the convenience for the students which are divided into 4 types of apartment :

Kelompok Amanah (male)
Kelompok Ilmu (female)
Kelompok Murni (female)
Kelompok Cendikiawan (male)

Each apartment can accommodate 4 students per unit, varying with different types of room for each apartment. Such as 4 separate bedrooms with single beds or 2 twin sharing rooms.
The university also provide accommodations for married students, with 2 bedrooms apartment with living and dining area, a small kitchen, laundry area and evidently a bathroom.

But of course the rental rates are quite affordable for the students who desires to stay close to their respected colleges, which can be seen here.

Occasionally, each apartments hold some events for the students that accommodate in their respected apartments to keep the students involve with the university. Other than that, it's the students responsibility to get involved with activities provided to make their experience here a memorable one.

On another note, the authors have a few words to say about the accommodations and their experience staying there.

Admin.

As guy in uniten, I rarely get the chance to go into Murni. There were two occasions that I got to go into Murni.

The first one was when one of my lecturers Puan Zue who was also a fellow at Murni, lost her husband due to multiple complications. I attended the 'tahlil' event where Muslims pray for the deceased as a sign of respect and as a reminder to themselves. Although it was a sad occasion, I could see the strength of Puan Zue persevering on through her actions and manners when she treats her guest that came to her house and I was touched by this as I can relate the my feeling losing a close friend or family. This shows that Murni is guarded and guided by a strong willed person at the helm.

The second time that I got into Murni was when I was sending my friend from class back to Murni, Because he's physically disabled he lives with his sister at murni at the Family block. I realized then that the Family block isn't just for newlyweds that are still studying but the family is what it name says, a block for a family to stay at.

From my few experiences there and around it, I think Murni has a very warm family like vibe to it which is rather rare for a college hostel or apartment which is rather refreshing to have. All in all, Murni is one of those rare things that you find in the oddest places.

One of the main reason of choosing a University is its accommodation or its hostel. Cendikiawan is one of the hostel area which located in UNITEN. Those who wanted a little bit of privacy, then Cendikiawan is your choice. Why? Well eventhough it consist of apartments, inside of each house have 4 rooms and one person for each room. True its a bit pricey than others, but paying for privacy not bad bargain.

Cendikiawan has 4 block with each block have 10 floors, and every floor have 8 house. But getting through the floors kinda hustle so Cendikiawan apartments are equipped with lift, each building have 2 lift.
Cendikiawan also provide surau for muslim students, so no worries for guys who wanted to congregation pray. Plus for those who are sick, sick bay is provided.

The best part about Cendikiawan is the location. Cendikiawan is located near to DSS and most of the sport facilities. Living in Cendikiawan means you don't have to go far for sports, it's just next door. For those who are lucky enough, getting a room facing the sports facilities is the best there is. Not only you are near sports facilities, you can just take a peek at the sports facilities to check whether there are people playing there or not. There is no need to go to the facilities just to know whether there are people and get disappointment over it.

Food problem? No worries, there are many stalls and shops in Cendikiawan; and if you are hungry 1 or 2 in the morning, there is a cafe in DSS that opens until 3 in the morning.

As a plus, for students who are having classes in COIT building, there is no need to wait for the bus to come,  you can take your leisure time walking to the college building, and its only going to took you 5 to 10 minutes.
So don't waste any more time and apply for Cendikiawan.

Imagine you're waking up in the morning, to a beautiful view of a lake right in front your house. There it is, with a huge backdrop of a mosque and it's silhouette reflected in the shimmering waters holding a beautiful life-like portrait. Then UNITEN's very own Kelompok Ilmu has every bit of that.

Situated in the heart of UNITEN, Ilmu apartment was once an accommodation for female students only, but since the increasing number of male students, they decided to partition a separate block for the male students for them to stay in. For every unit of the Ilmu apartment, there are 2 twin-sharing rooms each. Complete with a small kitchen and a balcony.

Ilmu is also a strategic location for the students as it is in the middle of every corner of UNITEN, the College of Engineering, A food court right outside the gates of UNITEN, mosque for any muslim student that have classes or any religious activities, a small field just behind the compund, and of course the lake. All in walking distance and saves time waiting for a bus.

But if the students are still waiting and hassling for a bus, they are provided a bus stop right in front of the compound and also a shady tree for them to wait under the hot sun with the breeze coming in from the lake.

Every night, the students who are staying there, can indulge in a soothing sounds coming from the nearby lake restaurant which provides live music from time to time in which may accompany them during the late night studies.

Amanah - Morning View
Compared to other accommodating places inside Uniten, Kelompok Amanah or simply say as Amanah is the best place to be called as home. Consisting on 6 block of apartments, 4 floors in heights and having a 10 to 11 houses per floor. Similar as Cendikiawan Apartment which in each house having 4 people staying. But what the difference is that they just have only 2 bedrooms, which is that 2 pairs of tenants will share a room or easy to called it as Twin-Sharing Room. Compared to Cendikiawan which is more to the side of 'privacy' stuffs, Amanah instead inducing students to get along to each others as room members and increasing the network of friends.

Sport Court in Amanah
Compared to other apartments inside Uniten, Amanah is the most unique place for student to stay. Equipped with 4 sport courts that student can use for their sport activities anytime they want to. The atmosphere in Amanah is cool and cozy. Located in most edge of Uniten area, Amanah is diminished from the busy traffic situations. Surrounded by trees and small hills makes Amanah suitable to enjoy collage life and pursue dream jobs afterwards at the same time.

Laundry room in Amanah
Talking about the facilities, inside Amanah there were also included the laundry room for students to wash off their cloths and laundries without needing them to buy one. Inside the room it have a number of washing machine and and also a cloth dryer that essential for students who can't get direct sunlight from their house for their laundries or even they want to have their cloths dry faster. To operate the machine, all you need is the coins. With a flat rate of RM3.00 per session makes the machine affordable for students to use it. What's cool enough is that this room is opened for 24 Hours. So that either you're the normal person who do laundries at day can make into this room or even you're a person who like to pull things 'all-nighter' way. Not to forget on food supplies, as same as Cendikiawan counterparts, Amanah also has it's own burger stalls runs by the students, clean water dispenser machine for drinking and even a small grocery shop for them to buy some menial stuffs that they needed urgently. Sadly enough, the grocery won't stay up till the morning like the laundry room do but at least there some alternative that students can rely on when they needing something to buy.

Without off-tracking this blog, as the title says that "Where all its start" meant by all students that applied Uniten will have the chance to stay in Amanah for a duration of 1 year. Makes it the first home for Uniten students can have. So lets move on into the interior part of the house itself.

Like what I just stated before, its a cozy looking house that suits for students to live on. Complete with all the necessary things that we need in our living like, kitchen, tables for dining, studying, coffee breaks and also the TV table. Area are lit up with natural lighting came from the window for each area or even enough by just using the lamps provided. Each room will have their own ceiling fans too! Also not to forget about the parking lot that also provided for student to use that surrounds all of the 6 blocks.

Lastly the WOW part, outside of Amanah will have a guard post that managing the vehicles entry. Without a proper registration a vehicle will not have the rights to enter Amanah residence area. Also beside of the post will have the Amanah bus stop which is 100% confirmed will help students to reach their collage in the matter of time. Sadly there's nothing big or grand that placed near Amanah, but still the distance for COIT student from Amanah to COIT Building will take as similar as Cendikiawan which is about 5 - 10 minutes to arrive. Well from Amanah to COE Building is the matter of the reasons why they need that bus stop actually. Duh~

So in other words, why not trying to apply Uniten for a change? I'm also a part of Amanah residence before on my Foundation years. But seriously? From my point of view, Amanah is the best place to chill out with your friends, get in laugh together and managing their study time all in one place.

    1. Waalaikumussalam.

I did not expect people will respond to our assignment's blog. Thanks for the compliment though. :D

The rules are rapidly changing within years. So whether the rules are still implemented or not are subject to change.

Anyway, as stated, 1st Year student regardless Foundation and Degree aren't allowed to bring their own transportation due to limited amount of parking lot spaces. Still you can disobey but the consequences are all weighted by your responsibility.

You can head to Lowyat's Forum to know more and most of us seniors and juniors will conversing some questions and answers within the thread. Links are provided below.
